Self-contained accommodation is available on Mundoo Island Station.  'The Retreat' can sleep up to 4 guests in 2 bedrooms. 

'The Retreat'

'The Retreat', is private and secluded self-contained accommodation situated across the Mundoo Barrage on our privately owned Mundoo Island. This unique accommodation is best suited for those wishing to have a complete break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Access is limited during your stay, so ‘The Retreat’ will seem a world away from your daily life. Enjoy your time at your own pace – Mundoo Time, as we call it!

‘The Retreat’ is not connected to the power grid, it is completely off-grid. Power is gained from solar energy and stored in batteries, therefore there is a limited supply of power before you may need to start a generator. An inverter is used so that 240v power is available. Wise use of power is encouraged to rely wholly on the solar power. You can operate a laptop computer and charge mobile phones, cameras, tablets and electronic readers. Please do not bring items that draw a lot of power e.g: hair dryers.

Be as active or passive as you wish. Read a book from our library at ‘The Retreat’, you are welcome to bring kayaks, bicycles to cycle to Boundary Creek, launch your own boat (size limitations apply) from an unmade boat ramp adjacent 'The Retreat' for a cruise in the Coorong, bring your fishing gear to catch Coorong mullet, mulloway, salmon trout or go floundering, walk through the paddocks or along our Coorong beach, pack a picnic lunch hamper and enjoy the beautiful birdlife and fresh air ... or simply relax and enjoy watching the sun set into the Coorong. Avid birdwatchers should bring their binoculars, scopes and bird ID books.

‘The Retreat’ is not suitable for guests who cannot walk up and down stairs, as the sleeping accommodation and bathroom are downstairs and the lounge, kitchen and dining are upstairs, accessed via an external staircase.  Limited rainwater is available so guests MUST be mindlful of water usage.

Due to the power limitations, you will not find an air conditioner, microwave or hair dryer. If you are wishing to book 5 - star accommodation, please do not book with us! Our accommodation is more about the experience than 5 star creature comforts.

Important note: ‘The Retreat’ is for guests only, visitors are not permitted during your stay.

WiFi is not provided - you may bring your own modem or use your hotspot on your phone if you require WiFi.

Rates subject to change without notice.  Public holiday weekends have a 3 night minimum stay & Easter 4 night minimum stay

Bookings:

  • Booking Form must be completed, signed & returned prior to your arrival
  • A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking 
  • The balance of your booking fee is due 21 days prior to your arrival date
  • Payment methods: EFT, Visa, or Mastercard

Cancellation Policy:  

  • No refunds are given if you cancel within 21 days of your arrival or if you leave prior to your departure date stated on your Booking Form
  • Amended bookings outside 21 days will incur a $55 administration fee

Security Bond:

  • A bond of $250 is payable upon your arrival by cash or pre- authorisation on your credit card
  • The property is to be left in a clean and tidy manner; if not, you will be charged additional cleaning fees which will be deducted from your bond
